Memories are made of something

I was hunting through an old wine box up in the spare bedroom for a notebook containing the first chapter of a children's story I'd started to write about twenty years ago, when instead these are what I found.

Is there anyone out there old enough for this to bring tears to their eyes?

I can do the backs of the EP sleeves as well, if coerced - and I might even have the records that used to live inside them.

  1. I remember, as a child, being taken to an Elvis Presley film by a friend of my parents', whom we called Uncle Percy. Percy was his name, but he was no relation. If he had been, we would have disowned him, because he embarrassed us horribly by singing along.

  2. Ha ha, all my parents' friends had to be called Uncle Jack or Uncle Norman or Auntie Babs. I was too young to disown or be embarrassed.

  3. Oh yes! Old enough to recall those and more.

  4. Yes, but secretly; it was scary stuff at first.

  5. Oh my brother was nuts for Francoise Hardy. Where's the children's story?

  6. Have you still got your blue suede shoes, Tim?

  7. Not scary to me! I was fourteen when Heartbreak Hotel came out. It scared my parents though.
Rosie - every hetero boy in the universe loved Francoise.
Christopher - funnily enough I did have a pair of blue suede shoes. I got them in Marks and Spencer in 1995. They didn't have crepe soles though.

  8. Francoise Hardy! What a memory. She was the background to all my youthful indiscretions.
