1987, what if?

  1. I listened attentively and spent much of the night pondering various matters including wondering if you could be in a state of grace simultaneously with a state of sin, and if not where the frontiers lay, and also wondering how what I thought was a very telling use of silence, or maybe the pregnant pause, could be appreciated without it appearing that the whole piece would benefit from it, which would be very rude and wouldn't be what I mean at all.

  2. Hmm. Thanks for listening. Sorry if I gave you a bad night. I hadn't thought my lyrics were that profound - I usually write by rhyme schemes rather than meaning (what rhymes with 'chat'? Oh yes, 'flat', etc.) - but someone did once tell me that the words of this song reminded them of T S Eliot: a mystery to this day.
