  1. You have a scullery? How very posh! I hope that a risk assessment was carried out before work commenced?

  2. You just don't get this sort of advice on DIY SOS.

  3. I just fold up a piece of cardboard... or sit on the machine.

  4. I hope the risk assessment noted the proximity of the saw blade to the electrical cable. Also the best-before date on the beer, if left over from July party.
Alternately why not sample the sound of the prancing washing machine & incorporate it into your next musical extravaganza? If Kate Bush can write a song about a washing machine I'm sure you can go one better.

  7. Hmmm. I'm not good with tools. I find administering a firm blow works for most things. But I'd certainly go along with the beer!

  8. Sir B, I thought 'utility room' was a posh name for 'scullery' ('a room for rough kitchen work, such as cleaning of utensils', Chambers.) But that's my age showing.
Liz - I bow to your superior knowledge of daytime TV.
Scarlet, Z - mine has a worktop over it, so not an option. But I'm trying to imagine the experience.
Richard, Dinah - don't worry, this picture was posed by actors. No bubblewrap was harmed in the making of this apparatus.
Rog - hem, er, indeed! (*backs away, smiling*)

  11. You joked it I think so. A hammer and a saw I think working for an dangerous appliance than on washing machine.
